Hospitals in Dubai & Sharjah

University Hospital - Sharjah, was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah.

Centrally located alongside the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah.

University Hospital - Sharjah is expected to be recognized as the leading teaching hospital in the region, offering world class health care in a learning environment.

 

The hospital plans to employ over 700 staff and will have a turnover in excess of Dhs.200 million per year.

 

The Hospital, which is located at the heart of the fantastic University City on the outskirts of the city of Sharjah, is a magnificent building with state of the art equipment. The facilities,  including  the staff accommodation next to the Hospital, is world class and our aim is to make the vision of His Highness The Ruler of Sharjah a reality. The close links with the University of Sharjah – and particularly the Medical and Dental Schools – will give an unprecedented opportunity to develop a world class clinical and academic centre of excellence. The clinical areas will have equipment of the highest possible standard and excellent diagnostic support in Pathology and Diagnostic Imaging which will include CT and MRI , Ultrasound and Mammography. The Operating Theatres, Delivery Suites, Intensive Care, Neonatology Intensive Care, Coronary Care and other departments will all be superbly appointed.   The strong and developing links with the University which also include Nursing, Allied Health and Health Service Management will give Students at the University the opportunity to participate in the clinical environment.

In 1983 the Dubai Hospital began admitting patients – augmenting the medical services offered. The hospital comprises numerous specialised departments and clinics, one of which is the cardiology centre, which is a quality transformation in the services the department offers in this field.

Endocrine Department

The Dubai Hospital provides a full range of services for adult patients with endocrine and metabolic diseases, including diagnosis and management of hypoglycemia and other acute complications of Diabetes, pituitary diseases, thyroid diseases, adrenal dysfunction, menstrual disorders, gonadal diseases, hirsutism and disorders of calcium metabolism.

A full range of services for treatment of obesity, osteoporosis, diabetes, hypertension and thyroid diseases are also available.

The resources of the Endocrine unit at Dubai Hospital are available to assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients with complex endocrine diseases.

 

The Nuclear Medicine Department

The nuclear medicine department was established in 1982. The department started its scintigraphy procedures using Siemens Planar Gamma camera. In 1992 the department expanded to accommodate two General Electric (GE) single head SPECT system. The second development in the Nuclear Medicine services at Dubai Hospital was carried out recently, in 2003. Three new SPECT Gamma cameras were introduced within the new location of the department in Level 12 at Dubai Hospital.

The professional team of the Nuclear Medicine section at Dubai Hospital includes Physicians, Nurses, Medical Physicists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Administrative staff.

OUTPATIENT CLINIC: 

It is on every Mondays and Wednesdays held in the department. The doctors in the physiotherapy department evaluate the referred cases as well as new cases and then direct them to the respective section of the department for the treatment.

ELECTROTHERAPY SECTION:

A spacious area having 12 cubicles. Latest electrotherapy equipment viz. Interferential, medium frequency currents, ultrasound, short-wave, lumbar traction, wax bath, fango etc.,

GYMNASIUM:

Fully equipped with various equipments to improve strength, range of motion, general exercise and rehabilitation.

CEREBRAL PALSY SECTION:

Specialised set up with various gadgets to improve the abilities of physically and mentally handicapped children. Trained qualified staff is assigned to treat such cases.

ANTEN-NATAL AND POST-NATAL:

A separate room for the expectant mother and for ladies following pregnancy. A comfortable environment for exercise program and relaxation for such cases.

HYDROTHERAPY:

With main pool, the temperature of water is controlled. Hubbard tank for paediatric cases. Regular laboratory test of water is done to ensure germ free water.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY:

A separate section within the department which is well equipped to improve the daily activities of the patients, and prepare them to lead a normal life.

ORTHOTIC SECTION: 

Ready made spinal corsets, abdominal belts, various splints, walking aids like crutches, walking stick etc., are provided to the deserving patients at nominal charges or on the deposit basis. Special splints, jackets are made from various thermoplastic materials.

E.N.T Department

Ear, Nose throat is a specialty concerned with medical treatment surgery of the ear, nose, throat and related structures of the head neck.

 

The specialty encompasses facial reconstruction surgery of benign and malignant tumours of the head and neck, management of patients with hearing loss and vestibular disorders, endooscopic examination of ear, food passages, nose Para nasal sinuses and treatment of allergy, sinus, laryngeal, thyroid and treatment of communication disorders.

The Department is responsible for providing medical treatment and surgery in it is specialty concerned to all hospitalized patients, outpatients, patients referred from other specialities.
